Supreme Edition 29" & 27.5" Carbon Mountain Rims – Alpha & Omega Series
What is the Supreme Edition
The Supreme Edition is NEXTIE's top-tier carbon mountain rim series, engineered to explore the performance and weight limits of carbon fiber for mountain biking. Seven models cover every discipline from XC to Downhill: Alpha 36S, Omega 36U, Omega 36, Omega 40, Omega 40D, Omega 40-27, and Omega 40D-27. Each model is engineered for a specific riding style while sharing the same core technological innovations.

In the relentless pursuit of carbon fiber bicycle rim innovation, NEXTIE continues to break boundaries. The Supreme Edition 29" & 27.5" mountain rim series embodies our revolutionary solution for every discipline of mountain biking — from Cross Country to Downhill.
For top-level mountain bike rims, the ultimate goals remain: lighter weight, greater strength, enhanced durability, and uncompromised riding comfort. Every Supreme Series rim is engineered to meet these goals — from the 220g Alpha 36S for XC racing to the 480g Omega 40D for Downhill. Each model shares the same core technologies while offering different rim heights, weights, and widths to suit specific riding disciplines.
How to Choose
If you race XC or ride marathon, choose the Alpha 36S (220g) or Omega 36U (260g / 280g). For trail and all-mountain riding, the Omega 36 (350g / 390g) offers the best balance. For enduro and super enduro, choose the Omega 40 (29") or Omega 40-27 (27.5"). For downhill, the Omega 40D (29") and Omega 40D-27 (27.5") are the strongest options at 175J impact resistance.
Core Innovations
While each model has its own material and structural recipe, the following five innovations define the Supreme Series as a whole. Note that innovations 1 and 2 are exclusive to the Alpha 36S.
1. Advanced Single-Point (ASP) Reinforcement – The Core of Alpha Series
The Advanced Single-Point (ASP) Reinforcement is the signature technology of the Alpha Series. We specially designed the shape of the spoke hole position and developed this single-point reinforcement technology for the Alpha 36S rim, resulting in a rim that is significantly stronger and lighter. The spoke hole angles have been optimized to 6° axial and 5° radial orientations, effectively minimizing spoke stress and maximizing power transfer efficiency.
The Advanced Single-Point (ASP) Reinforcement is exclusive to the Alpha 36S. The Omega Series, by contrast, focuses on maximum impact resistance for demanding disciplines like Enduro and Downhill.
2. Material Breakthrough: Toray T1100 + T1000 Aerospace Grade Carbon Fiber
The Alpha 36S pioneers the use of Toray T1100 aerospace-grade carbon fiber as its main structural material, strategically reinforced with Toray T1000 for localized optimization. This represents an ultimate upgrade from the previous Premium Edition material system. The Alpha 36S achieves unprecedented weight savings: 220g only, crowning it as one of the lightest MTB rims globally.
Other models in the Supreme Series use different material systems optimized for their disciplines: the Omega 36U uses Toray T1000 + T800, while the Omega 36, 40, 40D, 40-27, and 40D-27 use Toray T1000 + T800 + T700.
The Alpha 36S has been continuously upgraded since its February 2025 release (240g → 230g → 220g), with the current 220g version available as of May 2026.

3. 3rd-Generation Layer-up Structure
As illustrated, all Supreme Edition MTB carbon rims employ our third-generation carbon fiber layer-up structure. The outermost carbon layer on the rim bed closely integrates with the main body structure, wrapping around the outside of the rim to relocate seam joints away from the rim lip which is most susceptible to impact. This structure significantly improves the impact resistance of the rim during the technology impact test, so that it is not easily damaged by high impact in real riding.
4. Highly Strict Technical Test Methods
For all of the Supreme Edition MTB rims, we implement Specialized Laboratory testing standards exceeding UCI requirements: V-shaped impact hammer testing at 25psi tire pressure. This methodology better simulates actual mountain riding conditions, providing more realistic strength evaluations. Under this pointed-hammer test at 25psi, 84J is already considered exceptional for an XC rim. Our Supreme Cross Country carbon rims (including Omega 36U and Alpha 36S) achieve 100–105J, while the AM, Enduro, and Downhill models reach 130–175J. The Omega 36U has been in the market since July 2024 with a strong reliability record, and the Alpha 36S demonstrates equivalent testing performance. IMPACT TEST VIDEO: Rim 28Holes and Rim 24Holes.
5. Low-Profile Optimization for Riding Comfort and Tubeless-Ready
In terms of the rim height design, 23mm (Alpha 36S, Omega 36U, Omega 36) and 24mm (Omega 40, Omega 40D, Omega 40-27, Omega 40D-27) satisfy the needs of riding comfort and define the optimal height for Tubeless-Ready rim design, based on our years of experience. The primary design feature of the Alpha 36S is the use of molded spoke hole technology to improve the overall strength of the carbon fiber material on the spoke hole side. In another aspect, the Tubeless-Ready design does not damage the carbon fiber material on the rim bed, thereby maintaining the integrity of the carbon fiber material on the rim bed side. Therefore, the Tubeless-Ready design is the option we highly recommend for the Supreme Series carbon rims. The Tubeless-Ready rim manufacturing process based on Molded Spoke Hole Technology is different from the rim manufactured by traditional spoke hole drilling process. It is a patented production technology, which we will introduce in detail later.
Beyond these core innovations above, Supreme Series carbon rims incorporate numerous advanced manufacturing techniques including precision carbon fiber cutting, optimized mold materials, refined production processes and wheelset temperature test under 80 ℃ for 4 hours — collectively establishing Supreme Series carbon rims as the ultimate MTB competition-grade product.
Shared Across All Seven Models
Regardless of discipline, every Supreme Series rim shares the same 3rd-generation layer-up structure, the same pointed-hammer impact test standard at 25psi, the same Tubeless-Ready manufacturing process based on Molded Spoke Hole Technology, and the same 5-year warranty. The differences between models come down to material mix, rim height, weight, internal width, and impact strength — all optimized for a specific riding discipline.
Every technical refinement in Supreme Series carbon rims embodies NEXTIE's decade of carbon fiber R&D expertise. We firmly believe exceptional products emerge from accumulated experience, engineering wisdom and continuous rider feedback.
These mountain bike rims cover all types of mountain biking disciplines: Cross Country, Marathon, Endurance Cross Country, Trail, All Mountain, Enduro and Downhill riding.
