Wild Dragon 26" · 27.5" Carbon Fat Bike Rims & Wheelsets
The Wild Dragon series is the world's first carbon fat bike rim, introduced by NEXTIE in December 2013. Built around a double-wall triangular cross-section, it set the benchmark for carbon fat bike rims and remains one of the most trusted choices for riders who need maximum flotation and stiffness in extreme snow, sand and mud.
The original concept emerged from professional rider Ryan Melnyck, a former Canadian national champion in mountain cross country racing and multi-time provincial champion. In its first stiffness test, the rim reached an outstanding result of 426 kgf — more than 4 times stiffer than a standard carbon mountain wheel. The roof surface easily sheds snow, mud and sand, and the smooth rim bed makes tire installation and removal noticeably easier.
In 2015, NEXTIE introduced a lighter Premium Edition layup and expanded the platform to 27.5" for taller riders. In 2016, the platform evolved into the world's first carbon tri-spoke fat bike wheelset — the Wild Dragon Tri-Spoke. In 2020, the Tri-Spoke was upgraded with DT Swiss 350 Big Ride hubs. In 2025, the rim line entered its Mark III generation.
Since 2013, Wild Dragon has become not only a classic NEXTIE product but also a benchmark for carbon fiber fat bike rims worldwide.
